The Superen hybrid solar air conditioner connects straight to three or more PV panels (80–380 V DC) and automatically balances solar and grid power: it cools on sunshine during the day and switches to the mains at night, with no inverter, battery or charge controller. Manufacturer estimate for 8 am–5 pm use at 24 °C: a 1.5 hp unit costs about RM 49 a month in hybrid mode against RM 185 for a conventional air conditioner (73 % less), and RM 0 in full solar mode. For 2.0 hp the figures are RM 74 against RM 230 (66 % less).
